Do you have a woodwind student who would like help finding an appropriate solo piece to play for District Solo/Ensemble contest?

I am offering a limited number of coaching spots for woodwind soloists for the ‘26/’27 school year. Each student will meet privately with me for a short assessment, in which I will ask them to bring a few pieces that they are currently working on, either in band/orchestra or as a solo. After I have heard them play, I will have a few excerpts of pieces for them to sightread. This is not an audition, but I will be using this information to choose pieces to suggest to the student.

Within 7 days of the assessment session, I will send an email with 2-4 pieces that the student can choose from, as well as links to listen to each piece. The student will have 7 days to choose their desired piece. After all selections have been made, I will order the music and then send a PDF via email for rehearsal purposes. (The state of Missouri requires that original copies be used for the soloist, accompanist, and judge. If the soloist prefers to use a digital copy, an approval request must be made to MSHAA.)

Assessments will take place on Sunday, November 22, Sunday, November 29, and Sunday, December 13. Coaching sessions will take place on Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons in January, February, and March. Appointment times can be made after registration has taken place. Coaching fee is due 24 hours before the assessment appointment.

PLEASE NOTE - I am not able to sign students up for District Contest, as that must go through the students band/orchestra director at their school. The student will need to communicate directly with their director about their eligibility and interest. ALSO - The student will need to arrange for an accompanist through their director at school. I will not be able to provide one for them.
